Who Would You Be Without Your Story? ENLIGHTENED

In the spiritual community, we talk about being enlightened. An enlightened being lives duality and non-duality simultaneously. Non-duality is what is seen, heard, smelled, tasted or felt without a story attached to it. To see something with no thought attached to it is to see what is——reality. That is quite a trick because we are conditioned from a very young age to believe that the projected world of the mind is real – but it isn’t. It isn’t any more real than your reflection in a mirror is real.

Everyone has thoughts in their head. If you believe your thoughts are true, then you live in your head, in your story, in a world that reflects your conditioning. To be enlightened, is to notice that thoughts come and go and if you do not attach to them you will be able to see them for what they are: expressions of your conditioning. That clarity will allow you to see what is without a story. Then you can see the real world. Are you willing to let go of your story?

Byron Katie says, “Without a story, we move effortlessly, fluidly, without resistance. We are being lived. We’re not doing it…... I love it when thoughts pass through my mind and I love when there are no thoughts.  Thoughts can’t ever be a problem for me, because I have questioned them and seen that no thought is true.”

When we are blessed to have our conditioning drop away, we can see clearly the real world. It is right in front of our eyes. But our conditioned thoughts form a thick cloud of confusion and we get so stuck in our story we are blind to what is. Who would you be without your story? A baby crawling across a bare floor. A child reaching for the doorknob. A woman sitting in a chair having a cup of tea. A man talking on a phone.

We believe that our specific version of the truth is reality. Thinking focuses on the story being told by the thoughts arising.  It is not the story one hears in one’s head that is reality. No thought is true. Let me repeat that. No thought is true. Attach a name to what is seen and you are in duality, in a story about reality, not reality itself. And you cannot realize that until right timing in your evolution so don’t worry about it. Stop all seeking to understand what cannot be understood, because it is just the ego searching for more to add to the story of “me”.

You are taught that you are an individual separate from others. If you were not taught that, you would be enlightened. You would see clearly reality as it is. You would just be awareness looking, seeing, tasting, smelling, touching, hearing whatever shows up. It would not have a name. It would not appear separate. All that ever shows up is energy in one continuous movement with no beginning, no ending, manifesting as everything that is seen and heard. AMEN

Until you return, fill your days with GIGGLES, JOY, and APPRECIATION!

Having not reached enlightenment, I struggle to imagine how the enlightened perceive the world. How do you interpret the sensory inputs you receive? Then I realized the very act of imagining enlightened perception occurs within my "story" and is, therefore, doomed to fail. Our intellect is the problem, not the solution.

The only thing standing in the way of seeing reality as it is, is your story. Drop your story, and what is is. Too simple for the ego/intellect to understand. But you are not that. You are not your story. You are what is left when the story is seen through.
