Beth Carrigan - A Tribute

My friend, Beth, made her transition yesterday.  Today, I celebrate her.  She was a solid friend in my life for twenty-three years. I wrote this poem in December 2009 shortly after she told me she was planning to exit soon.  She said her journey here was complete.

RACING TO THE FINISH LINE

You are racing to the finish line,
You are going to get there before me.

Should I pout?  Should I be angry?
Should I ask for a do-over? Would it be any different?
So many questions echoing in the silence of the void.

You are racing to the finish line,
You are going to get there before me.

I envision that as you cross the finish line, the veil drops and you see clearly All That Is.
And those that have crossed before you are waiting to cheer you across that finish line,
As I stand on this side of the veil waving good-bye.

Destiny called on a wet and rainy night — July 1987.
You were married to Paul. I was single. I was inbetween husbands, Jim and George.
Your son, Brian, was still “in the nest”; my son,Tom, had already left to make his way in the world.

My, my! How young and innocent we were then. Young women in the world,
Doing our best to stay afloat.  And stay afloat we did!  In fact, we did better than that!
We forged our mark on the world: you with Lightheart Foundation and me with the
Institute For Balanced Living. We blazed a trail behind us of strength and power,
Love and compassion, experience and wisdom.

1991, we both got married. You beat me then too. You married Gene in March.
I married George in April. I just noticed, we both married “G” men.

1994, after the Northridge earthquake, you disappeared from my life;
You completely dropped out for over a year. Remember that?  But you survived;
We re-connected and picked up our friendship where we left off.

1996, you birthed Lightheart Foundation. I was the mid-wife.
What a blessing to be part of that unfoldment!

1999, on my birthday, I gave birth to the Institute For Balanced Living,
officially letting go of my massage practice to do my Reconnective work.
I did your Reconnection December, 2005. Remember? We did it in your bedroom!

2008, I got my Doctor of Divinity from the University of Metaphysics, Sedona, and in
2009, you finally produced the long dreamed of video of the work at Lightheart.

And here we are at the end of 2009 and you are racing to the finish line,
You are going to get there before me. Destiny is calling again. This time calling you HOME.

We have cheered each other on for over 20 years. It’s what we do. It’s why we are best friends.
It is a gift we give each other every day and I like to think it will continue beyond “the finish line”.

    Dearest Sylvia,
    Blessings to you as you say goodbye to your friend. I love the words and poem you wrote to her. And yes, beyond the finish line, standing there waiting to cheer you on is Beth. How lucky you both are to have one another, even beyond the finish line!
