The Pleasure of Doing Nothing

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I found myself standing in front of my house by the car waiting for my husband, George, to lock up and come to the car.  We were going somewhere.  My husband was doing. I was waiting. I heard a voice in my head say: “It’s taking him too long. I’m wasting time standing here. I want to be doing something!”

I heard the voice but my body did not move. I continued to stand there watching him. Then, a remarkable and unexpected gift was bestowed upon me by Spirit.  A wave of pleasure rolled through my body. It was the pleasure of doing nothing.

It is a feeling that is impossible to describe other than it felt good – really, really, good!  A smile appeared on my face.  As George approached me he asked, “What are you smiling about?”

I replied, “I’m happy.”

Since that experience, when I find myself waiting, I remember to relax into the opportunity to experience the pleasure of doing nothing. What a totally different experience from getting caught up in agitation, irritation or impatience. What a different world I find myself in when I turn my day over to Spirit and am open to receiving the gifts that lay therein.

Until you return, fill your days with HAPPINESS and the PLEASURE OF DOING NOTHING!
