Fifteen Minutes of Togetherness

Every day my husband, George, and I sit together in silence for 15 minutes. At this posting, we have been doing it for two months.  It is a practice I found on Michael Brown’s website: One-On-One: Awakening Our Capacity To Receive: http://www.thepresenceportal.com/One-onone%20session.htm  It is the most precious 15 minutes of the day and it has contributed to the deepening intimacy of our togetherness.

This is a non-doing practice; it is a “being” practice. There is nothing to do. One just sits with the feeling or pain that arises. I have sat with anger. I have sat with grief over an unavoidable loss. I have sat with the feeling of abandonment. Sometimes I cry. Sometimes I laugh. Sometimes what I feel is current. Other times what I feel is old, from childhood surfacing to be recognized, embraced, loved without condition and allowed to just be.

Once a day, I set a timer for fifteen minutes. We sit in silence, eyes closed, simply being with any emotional or physical discomfort we feel that day. When the timer goes off, we move on to the next thing. We do not share.  When we began this fifteen minutes of togetherness, George and I sat in the same room but in separate seats. If you were to peek into the room where we sit now, you would see us sitting side by side on a loveseat, a hand resting on the other’s thigh, eyes closed, in silence. It allows for a silent conversation soul to soul beyond the reach of the five senses to comprehend.

It has been a blessing to study the “new” perspective Michael Brown brings to an awakening humanity with his two books, The Presence Portal , Alchemy of the Heart, and his website: www.thepresenceportal.com  I have experienced so much benefit from this simple discipline that I wanted to share it with you. If you decide to do it, let me know. I would love to read your comments.

Until you return, fill your days with GIGGLES, JOY, APPRECIATION!

That is really lovely! I am so happy for you.

My own financial transition has occurred. I went down my own funny road but I did achieve the financial security that I wanted.
